[marginalia] 308 Pitkin Street Colorado January 3, 1938 [crossed out marginalia] Gentlemen: I have a double hare-lip and a double cleft-palate, which has been almost completely restored to normal by plastic surgery and dental work. I am a young man of twenty one and of course some day will marry. The question I would like to ask is this: Is my handicap hereditary? Would my children run the risk of having similar physical deformities? The fact as to whether or not I will ever have children depends wholly upon your answer. I am above average in intelligence according to tests, and I am now attending college, having a very happy and normal life. However I do not want to biologically weaken the human race, and of course if your answer is to the negative I would
