1196. COPY February 26th, 1922. Dr. Mr. Babbott: To expedite matters I am sending you memoranda concerning the racial origin of the delegates to the Constitutional Convention of 1787, in long hand. The Convention seems to have led to strong feelings, and not all of these men signed. But they are all said to have been present at some time. Others were elected who did not attend the sessions. Even in the eighteenth century the racial (and the national) stocks were more or less mixed. Some of the "Irish" were (or were mixed with) Catholic English. I have sometimes added the mother's name to show other stock (e.g., Johnson-Floyd) It is an interesting exhibit of [underline]nondic[sic][end underline] influence.
