Dear Mr. Editor:
This Association is making a study of biographical and family history records of eminent men. Among others we are studying the United States Senate as a representative group of statesmen. We fail to find, either in the Congressional Record or Who's Who, a statement of the racial descent of Senator William C. Bruce. Doubtless, because of your wide acquaintance with the distinguished men of your community you have this information in hand.
We should be very grateful if you would be good enough to supply the data indicated on the bottom of this page, and return this sheet to my address.
Very sincerely,
[signed]
Harry H. Laughlin,
Secretary.
Senator William Cabell Bruce.
European racial descent (such as English, Scotch, Irish, German, French) [dashed line]
One of the newpaper sketches which we have states that 'Senator Bruce traces his ancestry back to the Scottish hero Robert Bruce' - The Sun
