Memorandum For High School Teachers In Reference To Family History Study As Laboratory Work in Science.
It has been found out from experience that, under the direction of the teacher, a high school student can, if his parents will aid him, prepare a very satisfactory pedigree record of the family distribution of eye, complexion and hair color and hair form. For convenience in making these pedigree studies the Eugenics Record Office has prepared a five by eight schedule, a sample of which is attached to this memorandum.
High School teachers who desire to use this schedule for guidance in recording family pedigree facts, in connection with laboratory work in science, can copy the form, or may have it reprinted by the same firm who prints it for the Eugenics Record Office. This office has plates for this form and will lend them to the printer free of charge. The printer agrees to furnish these schedules at the following rates: 100 schedules, $2.50; 500 schedules, $3.75; 1000 schedules, $5.50.
After the high school student has successfully prepared this shorter schedule, some of them will be found to evidence particular ability in family history study. Often such students find their parents interested enough to aid seriously in the preparation of the "Record of Family Traits." For each such family, the Eugenics Record Office will be glad to supply two copies of the blank "Record of Family Traits," provided that the teacher recommends the study, and the parents will undertake, after completing the record, and keeping one copy for their own use, to return the second to the Eugenics Record Office.
