not uncommon, but only a practised, or accurately observing [illegible] would detect it. "Sports" to the pure white or the pure negro are unknown: in all my life I have never heard of a single one. I need not remind you that it is a wise child who knows his own father, & that over 60% of the population in this country can't point to mother's wedding ring. Many mistakes (?) in paternity are made, and as I said to you before, colour is one of the definite factors in deciding paternity in a court of law.
I send a few rough notes on the albinos, such as I have been able to make at short notice.
I have sent one or two control tests with the photographs, to enable you if possible, to form some very rough idea of the colour tints. You will see for instance that Katherine P. is paler than the bay mare. But of course, you can't expect to form any proper opinion of colour from bad photographs.
Please destroy the photo of the 3 children, or keep it to yourself.
Now, if you will let me say so, I think you are beating the air, & if you are opposing the "Theorists", you are fighting men quite unworthy of your [illegible]. From what I can fathom in your letter, they seem absolutely to ignore plain facts, & are victims of armchair delusions.
