5 I hope I have managed to show, in this brief survey, how the problems of mental hygiene are inseparable from the more general problems of human biology. In my view, greater efficiency can be obtained in tackling problems of human environment if this is done in conjunction with an appreciation of the need for studying and, if necessary, controlling the trends of population.
