Gentlemen: Your favor of January 8th, proposing the enactment of a law for the partial prevention of hereditary blindness, is at hand. In answer to Question 1 --- I think the possibility of reducing blindness by such a method is extremely remote. Question 11 --- I would not approve of such a law as it would be a dead letter from the start. Question 111 --- I would not enact any such law.
