My dear Mrs. Walden;-
This office is not in the habit of answering anonymous cases. The reason is that, if the case has enough interest to us to lead us to make some sort of prediction, then we should at least have the real name of the person under consideration in order that it may be possible, some years in the future, to trace the outcome and see in how far our prediction has been confirmed.
Of course, I realize your desire to screen an individual from publicity but there is no publicity about our Office which has the names and addresses of many thousands of persons. We have never yet violated any confidence by the publication of the names of persons and the data that were given to us in confidential fashion. Of course, we should treat the names that you give us in similar fashion.
Also we are making studies in different parts of the world and have not infrequently been able to connect up new families with those already studied. At the present moment we have some detailed data concerning over 1000 negroes and part negroes from the island of Jamaica.
Believing that you will recognize the reasonableness of our expectation to receive in our scientific organization the real name of the person in order that the best scientific use may be made of the
